The Rangpur Riders are currently on the top half of the points table in this edition’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Having played five matches, the team, captained by the enigmatic Mashrafe Mortaza, have only managed a couple of victories and the defending champions well and truly find themselves in a rather precarious position with the teams below them, dangerously breathing down their neck.

The Sixers, on the other hand, had a dismal outing against the Comilla Victorians. Their batsmen looked helpless and strained even under the lights and with dew falling. Their already poor Net Run Rate (NRR) also took a dip. With three defeats out of four matches, David Warner’s side is languishing in the seventh spot. The task against the Riders won’t be easy despite their opponents blowing hot and cold.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch in Tuesday’s doubleheader didn’t help the batsmen by any means. Like the first match, the spinners dictated terms and batsmen didn’t have it easy. There was an incredible amount of dew and even the camera showed how wet the ground was. Bearing in mind about how things panned in Sylhet’s first day in the BPL, it won’t spring a surprise if the teams opt to bat first after winning the toss.

The Sixers may bring in Sandeep Lamichhane and sideline Andre Fletcher. Liton Das could be back opening the batting with David Warner. Afif Hossain and Sabbir Hossain are next slotted to bat. The onus would also be on Nicholas Pooran and Alok Kapali.  The bowling lineup has Al Amin Hossain, Sohail Tanvir and Taskin Ahmed. The left-arm spin of Nabil Samad needs to come to the fore as well.

The bowling lineup has left-armer Nazmul Islam and Sohag Gazi as the spinners. Shafiul Islam and Farhad Reza are the fast bowlers
