Former Australian International and T20 specialist featuring in the Big Bash League (BBL), Brad Hogg, revealed his desire to push his career into the 50th year as he gears up for yet another season of the Australia based franchise league.
One of the biggest stars produced by Western Australia also stated his goal of featuring at the brand new 60,000-seat Perth Stadium which is scheduled to be inaugurated in the next season. At 46 years of age, Hogg is currently uncontracted with the Melbourne Renegades post his expiration of the one-year contract.
But the Australian veteran is hopeful about proving his fitness yet again after recuperating with the knee surgery he had undergone and retrieve another contract.
I want to crack the 50 mark: Brad Hogg
“I just want to play. I don’t care where and who wants me, as long as I’m delivering and enjoying it. I want to crack the 50 mark. If the body holds up, the body holds up. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t. If batsmen get on top of me and start belting me out of the team, so be it. I want to finish my career playing the Big Bash,” expressed Brad Hogg according to cricket.com.au.
“I’m fully fit, there’s nothing wrong with my endurance. It’s just being able to run at 100 percent. I am getting old. I feel young but the left knee just said ‘hey old fella, your mind might be 21 but I’m 46. So pull your head in a bit’,” further added the old warhorse. He concluded by stating his ambition to play in the brand new Perth stadium.
“The biggest goal is to play at the new ground in Perth. Coming from Perth, being there for 27 years and seeing that new stadium come up is exciting. I wish they got the Ashes Test there because it’s going to be something special,” concluded Hogg.
