Wriddhiman Saha has been a vital part of the Indian Test side since the departure of MS Dhoni from Test cricket. The Bengal cricketer has been battling for the wicketkeeper spot with youngster Rishabh Pant in the national Test side. Saha was set to don the Sunrisers Hyderabad jersey in the thirteenth edition of IPL. However, due to coronavirus outbreak, the tournament has been postponed to an indefinite period to tackle pandemic.

In the absence of cricket activities, cricketers are left with no choice but to stay indoors amid the on-going lockdown. Meanwhile, Saha, on Saturday, revealed that his locked ancestral house in Siliguri was the target of a burglary attempt on Friday.

Saha revealed his uncles, who live nearby in the city, were successful in hampering the attempt of the burglars. Saha’s uncles alerted the police about the burglary attempt and the culprits eventually fled off in their car. Six miscreants are believed to be involved in the burglary attempt.

“It’s really unfortunate. We only had heard about burglary during our childhood days… Hopefully, police will look into the matter,” said Saha as quoted by Outlook.

“Apparently the miscreants knew about this and attempted the burglary by entering through back door around 2 am on Friday. But his uncles who stay in the nearby locality shouted and alerted the police,” Saha’s childhood coach Jayanta Bhowmick said.

At present, the police are investigating the matter and are taking the help of CCTV installed in the house. Saha’s elder brother works in Mumbai and his parents, who had come for a vacation, are stuck due to the nationwide lockdown. The lockdown was extended until May 3 to tackle the pandemic and it is expected that several regulations would be eased down after the lockdown ends.

Saha has donned the Indian jersey in 37 Tests in which he has scored 1238 runs at an average of 45.51. The 35-year-old also has three tons and 12 half-centuries under his belt along with 92 catches and 11 stumpings.
