Indian team skipper Virat Kohli has been in an incredible form in the recent times across every format of the game. He has also led the team from the front and has set a definite benchmark for the captains all around the world. His leadership skills and on-field tactics have been greatly successful to an extent. Now, the Indian captain is just win away from equaling former India skipper and the current CAB President Sourav Ganguly’s record of 21 Test match wins.

The No. 1 Test side is all set to lock horns with the Lankan team on Saturday at New Delhi for final Test match of three-match series. The hosts took a 1-0 lead, after a massive victory at Nagpur and they would be thriving to take the field in the third Test match. The first Test match of the series ended in a thrilling draw, which made the series look more entertaining to watch for the thousands of fans.

Kohli will look to equal Sourav Ganguly’s record

The visiting Sri Lankan team have not performed well in the series so far. The whole team has looked lost in spirits and they have lacked the abilities to compete with this Indian team. The Lankan batters have failed to score big runs, which have resulted their bowlers doing the harder work on the field. Therefore, looking at the facts and the weak points of opposition, a victory in the New Delhi Test match looks easy for captain Kohli.

Presently, Virat has 20 Test wins from 31 games and he is placed third on the list of most wins by Indian captain in the longest format of the game. Sourav features second in the charts with 21 wins, while former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is at the top with 27 Test match victories in his tally. It is also to be noted that both Kohli and Dhoni have led their team to the top spot in the ICC Test Team Rankings, which is a thing that Ganguly couldn’t achieve during his reigns. So the 29-year old will have the records in his mind when he takes the field at his home ground on Saturday.
