Chennai Super Kings are back in the Indian Premier League. After being one of the most successful teams in the richest league in the world, CSK were banned for being involved in match-fixing. However, the franchise as a whole is getting a new look. There are going to be new players for sure but the staff of the Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited, the company that owns the team, is also getting revamped.

They recently retained three of their best players. MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja are the players they have re-contracted. However, the most decorated team in franchise cricket has got a new brain at the CSK Cricket Limited as well. A veteran scout and a long time servant of the team has taken over as the new CEO of the Chennai Super Kings.

CSK’s new CEO, KS Viswanathan

KS Viswanathan, fondly known as Kasi, is a veteran servant of the team. He has been with the franchise since its formation. A man with great experience and a calm head on his shoulders will be the main man of the franchise from here on. KS Viswanathan was a chief scout for India Cements Limited.

The director of the team, K George John was more than happy to announce the man’s arrival. “We have great pleasure in welcoming KS Viswanathan (Kasi) on board as the CEO. He brings with him several decades of experience in cricket and its administration and is one of the pillars of CSK’s great journey,” CSK’s official website quoted John saying.

Viswanathan was also happy to have a new place at the helm of the franchise. He said that he has a lot of administrative experience with the India Cements Limited. That experience will surely help him with CSK.

Cricket has always been of huge importance to The India Cements Limited and having been involved with cricket administration in the company for very long, it’s an area that I always desired to continue with,” said Viswanathan.

The newest CEO talked about the Right To Match (RTM) cards and how the team would use it to retain some more players. “Auction economics will determine the RTMs, a decision that will be taken by the coach and the captain,” said Viswanathan while adding that the decision will be the coach and the captain.

However, he also said that he will help them with the domestic players. Adding to that he said, his experience in the domestic circuit will help his franchise to identify great young talents. “Domestic cricketers have played a big role in CSK’s success in the past and as someone who keenly follows domestic cricket my inputs would be about them,” said Viswanathan.
