Mahendra Singh Dhoni stirred up a lot of headlines back in 2008 when he was bought by the Chennai Super Kings. He was the highest paid cricketer back then and is also the only player in the history for whom all the eight teams bid. He was bought for a whopping $1.4 million dollars back then, taking many by surprise. Furthermore, MS lived up to the expectations and no other team has been as successful as his yellow brigade.

In just the eight years of its existence, CSK dominated the tournament like no other franchise. The MS Dhoni-led team managed to bag two IPL and CLT20 trophies. CSK is one of the strongest contenders in the IPL and also never failed to make it into the playoffs. Slow and steadily, their beloved Thala moulded them into arguably the most dominant T20 franchise in the world.

What would come as a huge surprise for cricket fans, is the fact that the Ranchi cricketer wasn’t N Srinivasan’s first choice for CSK ahead of the first season in 2008. But including Dhoni in the CSK squad is possibly one of the best things which could have happened to the tournament and its fans.

The Chennai Super Kings made their mark right in the first season and is the only team to win the IPL two times consecutively. The team will be making a comeback this year after serving a two-year ban. The fans and franchise are all excited about the comeback and the building up to the action.

Furthermore, MS Dhoni also completed his 10-year association with the CSK and will be entering the 11th year of this amazing bond. The Chennai franchise shared its happiness with a tweet. “20 Feb 2008, the day the King of the Pride arrived. #WhistlePodu,” CSK tweeted. The fans were delighted to see the news and also expressed their happiness. The 2018 IPL season kicks off on April 7 with CSK taking on defending champions Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
