The Indian team is presently in England where they played a three-match T20I and a three-match ODI series against the Three Lions. Virat Kohli’s men won the 20-overs fixtures, but couldn’t replicate their form in the One Dayers. After their defeat, the team played a three-day practice match against Essex at County Ground in Chelmsford in a bid to get themselves prepared for the upcoming Test series.

While their overall performances have been impressive, their batting has been found wanting on a few occasions. Shikhar Dhawan couldn’t quite contribute in the T20I series having scored 19 runs in the three matches. He got himself off to decent starts in the ODI series, but couldn’t convert the knocks. The Delhi-born batsman also flunked in the warm-up match.

The left-hander bagged a pair and could only face four deliveries in the entire fixture. He was caught off an inside edge in the first innings after which his stumps were cleaned up in the second instance. The batsman’s form would definitely be a matter of concern for the team management. Cheteshwar Pujara didn’t play the limited-overs encounters but is expected to play a crucial role in red-ball cricket.

Dhawan and Pujara have fun

He plied his trade for Yorkshire in County Cricket, but couldn’t perform to expectations. The Rajkot-born cricketer could muster only 172 runs from 12 innings at a horrendous average of 14.33. Moreover, he couldn’t rack up a single half-century. India team would be hoping for the 30-year-old to cease his shambolic run of form and take the field in the Test series with a rejuvenated outlook.

Meanwhile, both the cricketers seem to be in a relaxed frame of mind ahead of the first Test between India and the Brits, which starts on August 1 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Recently, both showed off their poetic skills on Twitter. In the first instance, Dhawan took to the social media platform and hailed Pujara and also Virat Kohli, the Indian captain.

He wrote, “Kaise na ho gujara.. jab saath ho Kohli aur Pujara!”

Pujara had an appropriate reply in store and he reverted in an even more stylish manner. He wrote, “Na ho koi fikar, jab humaare beech mein ho Shikhar! @SDhawan25”

Here is Pujara’s reply
