Sunrisers Hyderabad looked dominating the opponent in their first three games of IPL 2018. But, it was exactly opposite when they met the aggressive Kings XI Punjab. The hosts KXIP were boosted by Chris Gayle in their playing XI. His presence is making the difference for the Punjab franchise.
Co-owner Preity Zinta would be the happiest person at the moment for buying the world boss Chris Gayle at the last moment in the recently concluded IPL Auction. He was picked in the very last round of the auction at the base price by the Preity Zinta-led KXIP franchise at the auction table.
The universe boss lived up to the expectations and fired the opponents with his explosive batting. First it was against Chennai Super Kings and secondly, it was against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, the latter never gave the fight that was needed in the game, which conceded them a 15-run defeat.
Sehwag wanted Gayle to win two games for KXIP
However, Virender Sehwag after the auction opined that they bought Chris Gayle and Yuvraj Singh for just winning two games in the season. “It is great that they (Yuvraj and Gayle) have come to us at their base price. It is surely a bargain. Who knows if there were more bidders, they could have gone as high as USD 1 million. They are big names and match winners, even if they win two-three games for us, we would get the return on investment,” Sehwag had said as quoted by Deccan Chronicle.
Gayle proved Sehwag wrong
But, Chris Gayle already won KXIP the assigned two games and won the match awards in both the victorious games. Gayle would be surely feeling happy after proving Sehwag wrong. The former Indian opener came up with a cheeky tweet on Chris Gayle after his match-winning knock against SRH.
