The Kolkata Knight Riders have been close to their very best in this edition of the Indian Premier League currently occupying the 3rd spot in the points table. With the team on the brink of making the playoff stages the men in purple need only a single game to nail the qualification. Skipper Gautam Gambhir and his men have been rewarded with a huge boost prior to the last few games of the league stage as they will now be able to benefit from the services of star player Chris Lynn once again.

The hard-hitting Australian announced himself in outstanding fashion when he bludgeoned the Gujarat Lions bowling attack but was unfortunate enough to be ruled out for a notable part of the tournament while fielding against the Mumbai Indians.

However, the 27-year-old Chris Lynn opened up to ESPN Cricinfo about his injury and the fact that he was forced to the sidelines at such a crucial point in KKR’s campaign. “I can’t keep affording to have this time off when I’m hitting the ball so well, it’s so frustrating,” said Lynn. “I think I might just have to be one of those fielders you hide in the field. But as soon as I start costing the team runs in the field, that’s when I’ve got to have a hard look at it. I think I can still contribute a fair amount with the bat and still be good enough in the ring in the field,” added the opening batsman.

Last two years of Lynn’s cricketing career has been full of injury concerns as the Aussie hurt his shoulder for the third time in such a small amount of time. He picked up the horrific injury when he went for a diving catch throwing his body on the ground. Though his chances of making the Australian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy are very thin, the final decision will be taken after putting him through a fitness test.
