BCCI’s Special General body is scheduled to discuss on India’s participation in the Olympics. The member of the CoA’s other point of discussion would be on awarding each member of both men’s and women’s team with an amount of 15 lakhs. Also, the matter of clearing dues of former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin will be discussed.
As of now, the only result expected from the meeting on the issue of Olympics is that BCCI would continue on its decision to not opt to feature in Olympics, as they do not follow the Charter of the event. The other agenda on the plate is the difference in ideology between CoA member Diana Edulji and acting President CK Khanna.
Edulji wanted the all the members of the Indian Women’s cricket team to awarded with a sum of 15 lakhs. However, Khanna raised an issue and added that even the members of the men team should be awarded the same amount as they too reached the finals of an ICC event.
Khanna demands the same amount of reward for Men’s team
“The matter (Olympics participation) is still being discussed and it will go to the general body. They have been rewarded for selecting good teams,” commented CoA member Diana Edulji according to TOI. The BCCI is also trying to adhere to the Lodha Panel recommendation of a 15-day window between international assignment and the Indian Premier League.
“We are trying our level best. We will try and adhere to it as far as possible since the Future Tours & Programmes (FTP) are decided the way in advance,” added Edulji. The other topic of discussion would be regarding clearance of pending dues. Azhar faced a life ban after he was accused of involvement in match fixing.
“Azharuddin’s case has been referred to the general body and Sreesanth’s case, the legal team is still studying. Azharuddin’s case was discussed at length. The legal team has given its opinion and I believe the general body will take a favourable decision,” concluded Edulji.
