Buckden Cricket Club and Falcons were up against each other in Huntingdonshire County League match where the former suffered more than an embarrassing defeat as the game ended. It has been reported that the 2nd XI of Buckden CC traveled to Falcon to face them at Sawtry, Cambridge where the dramatic match unfolded. The falcons had set their opponents a target of 260/6 and the entire team on the opposite end just bundled up on mere two runs.
It has to be noted that Buckden handed over a victory of massive 258 runs to Falcon as none of their batsmen could produce even a single run. The two runs that came into the team’s account were due to a wide and a bye. Had it not been these two things, the club would have suffered an utter shameful incident of getting dismissed for zero on the scoreboard.
Here is a look at the scorecard of Buckden CC vs Falcons
After facing an embarrassing feat, the skipper of Buckden CC Joel Kirschner opened up stating that he had certainly got more grey hair after taking the role of captain, out of stress. He added that many players could not make it to the match as they had some family commitments and that is why the team has to play 2nd XI.
We had 15 players unavailable reckoned Buckden’s skipper Kirschner
“We only had eight at the start, aged between 15 and 50 – and Graham Pearce arrived 30 overs in because he’d been working. We had 15 players unavailable, two or three were injured, the others had family commitments – and there was one no-show. We are genuinely not a bad team. When we played Falcons before we only lost by nine runs,” Joel told BBC Sport.
Joel decided to put Falcons to bat first after winning the toss. Though Buckden didn’t start poor, somehow, they lost the track of the game, and the team on the other end managed to put good 260 runs on the board. A 132-run stand between Faheem and Murad Ali became substantial in pushing the Falcons towards a respectable score in 40 overs.
