Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are seemingly in deep trouble in the Indian Premier League 2023, as they are placed in the ninth position on the points table after playing half of their league games. SRH were hoping for a better season this time, after parting ways with their former skipper, Kane Williamson. In the same vein, they went on to appoint South African player, Aiden Markram as their new captain. However, their struggle continued this year, and now they are only ahead of Delhi Capitals (DC) with only two victories and five losses to their name.

In the previous game, SRH lost to Delhi Capitals (DC) by seven runs at their home ground and their next fixture is against the same opponent in DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Before the next clash, they will look to collect themselves and field their best playing XI, who could get the better of the Capitals to end their three-match defeat streak.

Here's Sunrisers Hyderabad's predicted XI against Delhi Capitals

Openers: Harry Brook and Mayank Agarwal

Harry Brook’s failure with the bat is affecting the team negatively. So far, the youngster has scored 163 runs in seven outings at a dismal strike rate of 127.34. Except for the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the youngster’s bat has remained quiet in all games. Despite witnessing his below-par performance, the team management might go ahead with him in the upcoming match.

Along with Brook, Mayank Agarwal has failed to provide ideal starts to SRH so far in the competition. After the 2022 season, his flop show continued this year as well. Scoring only 164 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 111.56, he has failed to justify his role. In the crucial matches ahead, his responsibility will be to get back among the runs to set a strong foundation for the rest of the SRH batters.

Middle-Order: Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram (captain), Heinrich Klaasen (wicketkeeper)

Rahul Tripathi’s role will be vital to uplift the team’s position on the IPL points table. For the 32-year-old, it would be crucial to pile up confidence after back-to-back failures in the competition. Thus far, the 32-year-old has scored only 160 runs in seven appearances at a horrendous strike rate of 112.68. However, forgetting the previous results, he will look to do wonders with his bat in the upcoming battles.

After handing the captaincy mantle to Aiden Markram, SRH supporters were expecting some quality cricket from their team. However, the 28-year-old hasn’t done anything special with his leadership and batting skills. As a batter, he couldn’t solidify the middle order of the team, scoring only 124 runs in six matches. In the upcoming games, he will have to lead from the front and do something unprecedented to take his team to the next round.

Heinrich Klassen is a proven performer in international cricket as he has bagged a lot of games for South Africa with his fierce batting style. Going through his strong reputation, SRH signed him for this season, but the wicketkeeper batter hasn’t been consistent in the tournament so far. In a couple of games, he looked decent with his bat, and noting that, the team management will want him to be impactful in the big games ahead.

All-rounders: Marco Jansen and Abdul Samad

Marco Jansen will have to showcase his best in the remaining clashes and strengthen SRH’s campaign. Thus far, he has looked out of rhythm with both bat and ball, racking up only 32 runs and six wickets in five matches of the competition. However, the lanky pacer might continue his run in SRH’s playing XI in the upcoming games and if this happens, he will have to provide something solid to the team.

In the absence of Washington Sundar, Abdul Samad might be seen on the field to reinforce the team with his all-round skills. However, his recent displays have been quite disappointing as the 21-year-old has chipped in with only 62 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 114.81. If he gets an opportunity against DC in the playing XI, he will look forward to being among the runs for the team.

Bowlers: Mayank Markande, Bhuvneshwar, T Natarajan, and Umran Malik

Mayank Markande has done excellent for SRH in the competition. Scalping eight wickets in five matches at a fine economy of 6.70, he has emerged as one of the top performers for the team. Witnessing his good work, Sunrisers will expect him to continue his form in the must-win contests.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is the two-time Purple Cap winner and the most successful SRH bowler in the league, has got his form back after starting the competition with his terrible bowling performances against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the initial games. In the last few matches, he displayed his best side and provided some thrifty and wicket-taking spells to the team. The veteran’s contribution will be important for SRH to clinch the third win of the tournament against DC.

T Natarajan and Umran Malik are important names in SRH as both players are premier bowlers and also bolster the team’s fast-bowling unit with their pace.  However, both are currently lacking discipline and are turning out to be the biggest failures. Umran, who is known for his sheer pace, has taken only five wickets in six games at a disastrous economy of 9.63. While, on the other side, Natarajan has also hunted only five batters in six contests and has splurged runs at an expensive economy of 10.05. Despite their poor run with the ball, the team may still back their skills and abilities to deliver for SRH in the upcoming game against DC.
