IPL 2024: Rajasthan Royals' strongest predicted playing XI against Gujarat Titans

High-flying Rajasthan Royals (RR) are set to take on the inconsistent Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 24 of the IPL 2024. Royals will aim to remain unbeaten as they head into their fourth home game of the season at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday, April 10.

Sanju Samson and Co. are currently at the top of the points table with eight points and an excellent net run rate of +1.120. Their latest triumph was against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) when they comfortably chased down the target of 184 runs with six wickets in hand. The match also saw opener Jos Buttler return to form as the Englishman notched up his sixth IPL century.

The last time the two sides met, the 2023 finalists crushed RR by nine wickets in the league stage. However, this time the Ahmedabad-based franchise is coming on the back of two consecutive defeats, making the inaugural champions favourites. Openers: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler

Yashasvi Jaiswal is known for getting off to an aggressive start and converting it into a big score. However, the youngster is yet to fire this season and his form is a concern for the franchise. The southpaw is yet to score a half-century and has failed to score more than 10 runs in his last three matches. Team India would also want Jaiswal to find his rhythm with the T20 World Cup around the corner.

Jos Buttler has had a similarly poor start to his campaign, scoring just 35 runs in the first three matches. The veteran hitter, however, managed to return to form by scoring a match-winning hundred against RCB in their last match. RR will hope Buttler continues his form as it will have a significant impact on their push.

Middle-order: Sanju Samson (c & wk), Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel

RR's biggest positive this year has been their middle order. Sanju Samson endured a bit of a bad run after his match-winning half-century in the first match. However, he engineered RR’s win against RCB with a fine 69 (42) along with Buttler. Riyan Parag has proved to be the mainstay for RR this season, scoring 185 runs at an average of 92.50 and a strike rate of 158.12.

He played a crucial role in RR's three victories and will look to continue his fine form in the upcoming matches. Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel didn't get much chance to show off their exploits with the bat. However, as the tournament progresses, both will need to step up with their big hits and finishing prowess.

All-rounders: Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin has batted a couple of times at the number five position and managed to contribute his fair share. However, RR expects more from the veteran off-spinner in the bowling department. He has taken only one wicket in four matches. Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal are equipped with the task of tightening the middle-overs.

Bowlers: Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Nandre Burger, Yuzvendra Chahal 

Trent Boult will spearhead the pace attack for Royals. Boult and powerplay are a brilliant combination as the left-arm pacer rarely goes wicketless in that phase. The Kiwi superstar will have the assistance of Avesh Khan and Nandre Burger in the pace department. Burger has been impressive so far, picking up six wickets in four matches.

Yuzvendra Chahal is known for his consistency in wicket-taking and he is doing nothing to tarnish his reputation this season. The veteran spinner is currently the second-highest wicket-taker with eight scalps at an economy of 6.36. Chahal has a big role to play in RR's progress towards the playoffs.
