2. David Warner

David Warner is a renowned batter in this game and when it comes to T20Is, he becomes a specialist due to his vast skills and ferocious approach. As the tournament was getting played Down Under, his chances to become one of the top players in the tournament increased due to the home advantage.

But in this mega event, Warner emerged as a disappointment for Australia due to his miserable performances. Playing four games in the tournament, he scored only 44 runs with an average of 11. His performance in the competition not only tarnished his image but also influenced Australia’s World Cup journey negatively. As an opener, he is adept at delivering incredible starts to the team with his opening partner and Aussie skipper Aaron Finch, but this time, he struggled to find himself among the runs.

Before the tournament. Finch’s quiet bat in the India series was a concern for the Aussies but the return of Warner in the home series against England and his knock of 73 in the first T20 game provided relief to the management and supporters. But in every game of the World Cup, the veteran looked uncomfortable and failed to turn up against the bowlers.
