<p>Zimbabwe captain Ervine led well in the first phase, to see the team through to the Super 12. However, they finished last in Group 2 with one win in five matches. They started the Super 12 round, wherein they survived a loss due to the rain against South Africa.</p>
<p>However, Zimbabwe produced a fighting comeback against Pakistan. Although they accumulated only 130, the bowlers were terrific to stun the opposition to win the game by one run. Ervine rotated the bowlers quite well and saved Blessing Muzarabani for the last over, which helped the team to secure a victory.</p>
<p>The Chevrons then fell short by three runs in a chase of 151 against Bangladesh. It was an average effort from the team and captaincy perspective against Netherlands and India, wherein their all-round efforts in both departments could not see them win the matches.</p>
<h3>10. Shakib Al Hasan-7</h3>

<p><a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-teams/bangladesh" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><b>Bangladesh</b></a> came into this tournament after losing all their four matches in the T20 Tri-series under Shakib Al Hasan. However, the Tigers were impressive in their overall performance but fell short in a few matches. Until the last game, they had their knock-out hopes alive, which depicts their performances.</p>
<p>In the first game, Bangladesh scored 144, and the impressive bowling unit helped the team to win by nine runs against the Dutch team. They could not do well against South Africa, wherein they were directionless in both departments.</p>
<p>Shakib did well to contribute with the bat and effect a run-out to support the team in winning the game by three runs against Zimbabwe. Afterwards, the India game witnessed them coming close but losing by five runs. In the last fixture against Pakistan, the fighting spirit was missing as the team failed to defend 127.</p>
<h3>9. Scott Edwards- 7</h3>

<p>The Netherlands qualified for the Super 12 stage with a clinical performance in the first phase. Then, they faced Bangladesh and could not seal the game by falling short of nine runs. They underperformed against India, wherein they were taken apart for 179 and lost by 56 runs.</p>
<p>Edwards batted well to help the Dutch team to score a respectable total of 91, which unfortunately came in a losing cause. The final two games witnessed Edwards leading brilliantly and ending the tournament in a strong fashion.</p>
<p>A terrific bowling effort saw them restricting Zimbabwe to 117 and sealing the chase easily. Then, they faced Proteas and posted 158 on the board. Edwards used his experienced bowlers well and managed to upset the strong opposition by 13 runs.</p>
<h3>8. Andy Balbirnie - 7</h3>

<p>The Irish team was led by the composed individual, Andy Balbirnie. Under his captaincy, they beat West Indies to reach the Super 12. However, they started on a bad note as they could score only 128 against Sri Lanka and failed to defend the score.</p>
<p>Then, they faced <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-teams/england" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><b>England</b></a> and had a terrific start with the bat, with Balbirnie leading from the front to help them post 157. Then, the bowling unit complemented the batters as they defended the target by five runs.</p>
<p>The next game against Australia was a one-sided affair, as Ireland conceded 179 and could score only 137. In the last game against the Kiwi team, they again were dismal with the ball and were set a target of 186. Balbirnie and Paul Stirling started quite well, but they lost the game by 35 runs.</p>
<h3>7. Dasun Shananka - 7.5</h3>

<p><a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-teams/sri-lanka" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><b>Sri Lanka</b></a> topped their respective group's points table to reach the Super 12 stage. It was a satisfactory performance from the team, given the injury concerns to their players mid-way in the tournament.</p>
<p>The bowling unit was impressive to restrict Ireland to 128 in their first game and then sealed the chase easily. It certainly was a great team effort to start on a positive note. Dasun Shanaka used the spinners well to put Australia under pressure, but the hosts managed to win the game by chasing 158.</p>
<p>The team could not display their proficiency against New Zealand and could score only 102 in response to the opposition’s 167. Then, the Islanders sealed an easy chase of 145 against Afghanistan and ended the tournament by losing to Australia.</p>
<h3>6. Temba Bavuma - 7.5</h3>

<p><a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-teams/south-africa" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><b>South Africa</b></a> had one of the finest bowling attacks among the teams participating in the tournament. However, they succumbed to the pressure and could not seal their place in the semi-finals. In the first game, they, unfortunately, faced the wrath of rain and had to share points with Zimbabwe.</p>
<p>However, they continued their brilliance to secure a 104-run victory over Bangladesh. In the next game against India, captain Temba Bavuma was spot-on with his fielding placements and bowling changes to see them prevail over India. With this victory, they became favourites to qualify for the semi-finals.</p>
<p>In the next game, they conceded 185 against Pakistan, but the batters could not response well and lost by 33 runs. Bavuma was the top-scorer with contributions of 36 off 19. In their must-win game against Netherlands, South Africa fell short of 13 runs and bowed out of the tournament.</p>
<h3>5. Aaron Finch-8</h3>

<p>The defending champions were certainly touted to be the winners in this edition as well. However, they missed out on the qualification for the knockouts due to a low net run rate. The big reason was their first game against <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-teams/new-zealand" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><b>New Zealand</b></a>, wherein the Finch-led side conceded 200 while looking clueless with the bat as well to lose by 89 runs.</p>
<p>In the game against Sri Lanka, they bowled well but lost wickets in tandem during their batting. It was Finch’s anchoring and Marcus Stoinis' assault, which kept Australia stay alive by winning the match.</p>
<p>Finch scored a terrific 63 off 44 against Ireland to help the Aussie team post 179 on the board. It was an attacking mindset from Finch, which crushed half of the Irish batters in the powerplay and winning the game by 42 runs. However, they could win by only four runs against Afghanistan, and England qualified from Group 1.</p>

He has the habit of being composed during crunch moments and using his resources well to prevail in crunch moments.</p>
<p>New Zealand started on a dominating note by posting 200 and winning by 89 runs against Australia. With their all-around brilliance, they won by 65 runs against Sri Lanka and thus continued their good run. However, the high-flying Kiwi team faced a loss by 20 runs against England.</p>
<p>Then, the must-win game against Ireland saw Williamson slam 61 off 35 to help the Kiwis prevail by 35 runs. But they were completely dominated by Pakistan in the semi-finals while failing to defend the score of 152.</p>

The Rohit Sharma-led side started off on a prolific note by winning a thriller against Pakistan, courtesy of a Virat Kohli special.</p>
<p>Then, they faced the Dutch team and won by 56 runs, which put them in good stead, with Rohit scoring his only fifty. However, the batting performance lacked firepower against South Africa, which witnessed India losing by five wickets. The game against Bangladesh went in favour of India, with <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-news/i-dont-see-rohit-sharma-playing-in-the-next-t20-world-cup-wasim-jaffer/"><b>Rohit Sharma</b></a> planning well to save Arshdeep Singh for the final over.</p>
<p>India ended the Super 12 with a 71-run victory over Zimbabwe. In the semi-finals against England, Rohit Sharma and Co. faced criticism due to their defensive mindset in the powerplay overs with the bat, and also failing to take even a single wicket with the ball.</p>
<h3>2. Babar Azam-8.5</h3>

<p><a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-teams/pakistan" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><b>Pakistan</b></a> are one of the most unpredictable sides among the cricket-playing nations. They lost their first two games against India and Zimbabwe, but a terrific turnaround saw them sealing the place in the finals, thanks to Babar Azam’s optimism and confidence build-up to his team.</p>
<p>Babar got terrific support from his bowlers, as they restricted the Netherlands to a total of 91, and then opened their account. They continued their strong showing against South Africa in both departments, as they stayed alive in the tournament by winning by 33 runs. In the last league game, they faced Bangladesh and sealed the chase of 128 easily.</p>
<p>In the semi-finals against New Zealand, Babar slammed 53 off 42 as the Men in Green were impressive to chase 153. The final against England witnessed them scoring only 137, and the opposition sealing the chase easily.</p>
<h3>1. Jos Buttler - 9</h3>

However, their defensive style of play resulted in them losing by five runs against Ireland. They returned to post 179 and winning by 20 runs against New Zealand to stake a claim for the semis. Then, the Buttler-led side won by four wickets against Sri Lanka to finish second in their Group.</p>
<p>In the penultimate clash against India, Buttler slammed 80* off 49 against India and stitched an unbeaten partnership of 170 with Alex Hales (86* off 47). The final witnessed the English skipper being terrific with his bowling changes to restrict Pakistan to 137 and then giving a quick start with a contribution of 27 off 17. The Three Lions then completed the chase with an over to spare, with Ben Stokes scoring a fifty. &nbsp;</p>
