Bangladesh have been an ever-improving side in the last couple of years. They have given top-ranked sides a run for their money and have scripted some memorable victories across formats. However, they have not been a formidable force in the shortest format of the game. Talking about the last year's T20 carnival in UAE, they could get a single win under their belt at the Super 12 round.

To address the woes in the T20 format, Bangladesh have already made some big decisions heading to the T20 World Cup 2022. They appointed the veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan as their skipper and also sacked Mahmudullah from the World Cup squad.

With the Bangla Tigers undergoing a transition in the shortest format, one can witness some players who do not fit into the team's plans might remain sidelined from the side post the global tournament.

Let us look at the Bangladesh players who might not feature in T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2022

3. Sabbir Rahman

Asia Cup 2022 marked the return of Sabbir Rahman into the international fold after a span of more the two years. The 30-year-old was assigned the role of an opener and this was a golden chance for him to make it big at the T20 circuit and nail the opener slot for the forthcoming global tournament.

However, the Rajshahi-born failed to make the most of the opportunities and in the four outings for the Bangla Tigers, Sabbir could only manage 31 runs at a poor strike rate of 86.11. Due to the miserable outings, he was dropped from Bangladesh’s squad for the World Cup just two days before the start of the competition.

Thus, Sabbir being axed might be an indication that the veteran player might not be team’s plans moving ahead. Shakib Al Hasan & Co. have tried the likes of Najmul Hossain Shanto and Soumya Sarkar in his place and might give the duo an extended run at the top of the order. Moreover, they have another option of moving back to the veteran Litton Das as their designated opener making Rahman’s chances of staging a comeback even bleaker.
