Being a young wicketkeeper within the CSK ranks has to be the most difficult job in the IPL across teams and unfortunately for Urvil Patel, he finds himself in that exact position. Despite turning 45 this year, MS Dhoni remains one of the mainstays of the Super Kings' playing XI. CSK, however, have already signed Sanju Samson as a potential long-term replacement for their legendary former captain.

With two India greats ahead of him in the pecking order, Urvil might struggle to get game time in 2026. It is worth mentioning, though, that Urvil did play three times for CSK last season, scoring just 68 runs at a very healthy strike rate of 212.50. There is a lot of promise and potential within the wicketkeeper hailing from Gujarat but he might have to wait for his time to come.
