RP Singh played his first ODI in 2005 and his first Test in 2006. However, the left-arm pacer made his T20I debut in 2007 in a Group D clash between India and Scotland in Durban. He picked up 40, 69, and 15 wickets from 14 Tests, 58 ODIs, and 10 T20Is, respectively. The Raebareli-born retired from all forms of cricket on September 4, 2018, when he was just 32 years old. Since calling time as an active cricketer, RP Singh ventured into commentary. He mostly did commentary in the Hindi language and managed to strike a chord with the fans with his knowledge of the game and in-depth analysis. In September 2025, the 39-year-old joined the men's national team selection committee, which is chaired by his former India teammate Ajit Agarkar.
