3. Jonny Bairstow - Missed World Cup due to Golf

The in-form English star is not a part of England's squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 due to a freak accident on a golf course that led to a broken left leg.

Bairstow was enjoying his time in international circuit this year with runs across formats. Just few days before the accident, he was named in England's squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 but was eventually ruled out due to his injury.

Bairstow put out a social media post regarding the same and revealed that he slipped while walking to a tee box and injured his lower leg on September 2.

"Except this time I tried to regain my balance, my left ankle turned right, dislocated and my weight went through my left lower leg. I heard it snap straight away. I took a couple of steps down then slipped. By the time I crumpled into a heap, I was three-quarters of the way down. It's all a blur, it happened so quickly," Bairstow revealed in his Instagram post on October 4.

England have plenty of backup options in the form of Alex Hales and Phil Salt but Bairtow's current form makes him an irreplaceable option for a tournament like the T20 World Cup.
