Ace Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga was ruled out of the inaugural IPL season in 2008 due to a knee injury, which led Mumbai Indians to opt for a young West Indies allrounder, Dwayne Bravo. Though Bravo wasn’t among the headline names at the time, MI coach Lalchand Rajput revealed he was the unanimous choice as Malinga's replacement. Over three seasons with Mumbai, Bravo had his share of ups and downs, scoring 457 runs and bagging 26 wickets in 30 matches.

However, it was with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from 2011 onward that Bravo's IPL career fully took off. A match winner with both bat and ball, the West Indian became a death-overs specialist, winning the Purple Cap twice (2013 and 2015) and playing a crucial role in CSK’s title wins in 2011, 2018, and 2021. With 183 wickets and over 1500 runs across his IPL career, he is considered one of the tournament’s greatest all-rounders. Apart from his heroics on the field, he was well known for his celebratory dances and funny moments.
