IPL 2023: 3 LSG players to watch out for in upcoming season

In the previous Indian Premier League (IPL) edition, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) put up a decent show under the captaincy of KL Rahul. With nine triumphs and five losses in the round-robin stage, LSG qualified for the knockout round. However, the team’s journey ended after losing to Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Eliminator.  

At the mini-auction held in December 2022, the franchise added some big names to the squad for the forthcoming season. Their biggest buy at the auction was the West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran, who got signed by the franchise for INR 16 crore.

The franchise acquired Amit Mishra, Naveen-Ul-Haq and Daniel Sams as well. In the upcoming marquee event, LSG will bank on these players to do well in their second season. Along with these names, the KL Rahul-led squad will expect some recent performers to showcase their best as well.

3. Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi will be a vital cog in the LSG squad in the upcoming competition. He is expected to strengthen the spin attack of the team with veteran Amit Mishra and Krunal Pandya. In the previous season, he was efficient with the ball, clinching 13 wickets in 14 matches at an economy of 8.44. 

Talking about the 22-year-old’s recent bowling performance, the leggie picked up seven wickets in five matches of the 2022-23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), at an economy of 6.58. Next, in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he got better with the ball, scalping 11 wickets in seven contests at an economy of 4.91. 

After having an incredible domestic season, Bishnoi will back himself to deliver top-notch numbers for his IPL franchise. So far, he has claimed 37 wickets in 37 IPL games at an economy of 7.53. This time, he will strive to improve his numbers utilising his skills and previous experiences.
