IPL 2023: 5 Players RR might trade in trading window

Rajasthan Royals did an amazing job at the 2022 Mega Auction to form a strong squad with a nice blend of youth and experience. Regarding the exploits on the field, Sanju Samson & Co. were simply outstanding with both bat and ball and reached the tournament finals. Unfortunately, they lost to Gujarat Titans in the title clash and had to contend with the runner-up position.

Rajasthan have most of the things sorted out as far as their team composition goes. However, there are some players the team management could not fit into the plans or their performances were not upto the expected standards. RR could part ways with those players in the trading window of the 2023 season.

5. KC Cariappa

KC Cariappa has been a consistent performer for his domestic side Karnataka and is renowned to bamboozle batters with his variations. In the 2021-22 season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he showed his class with the ball and took 12 wickets in nine games at a phenomenal economy of 5.63.

Rajasthan Royals roped in the mystery spinner to add variety to the spin-bowling arsenal. However, Cariappa was not able to break into the playing XI due to the superb bowling displays of the veteran spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin. 

The Indian spin-pair took a total of 39 wickets in the 2022 season and was instrumental in Rajasthan reaching the Finals. Cariappa was more of a backup option and the same could be the case going forward. Therefore, RR would look to release the 28-year-old in the forthcoming trading window.
