Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been going through a difficult phase in the Indian Premier League (IPL) lately. In the last two years, the supporters of the franchise have endured numerous embarrassing defeats.

From the sacking of the then-skipper David Warner (2021 edition) to not paying heed to the then-assistant coach Simon Katich's pre-auction plans ahead of the mega-auction 2022, SRH made headlines for many negative reasons.

But things went worse when SRH in the fifteenth season of the league delivered underwhelming performances under Kane Williamson. Out of 14 matches in the season, SRH won only six which was not sufficient for the team to make it to the playoffs.

After Williamson took over the reins of the team, he looked completely out of rhythm with his bat. In the 13 matches of the league, the veteran amassed only 216 runs at a poor average of 19.64 and at an underwhelming strike rate of 93.

For the next season of the tournament, the 2016 champions have to deliver their best with disciplined performances in the batting, bowling, and fielding departments to outclass other squads. After the poor performances of the team in 2022, the franchise also parted ways with Tom Moody by appointing Brian Lara as the head coach.

In the previous season, Lara provided his services to the team as the batting coach. With the appointment of a new head coach, the franchise will look forward to bidding adieu to non-performing names.

With that in mind, let’s have a look at the players SRH might release ahead of the mini-auction:

5. Shashank Singh

This season, SRH believed in Shashank Singh to provide strength to the middle order. Out of the 14 matches in the 2022 edition, the team rested their hopes on the India batter on ten occasions. But the batter’s contribution to the team was not up to the mark.

In the ten games played during the recently culminated edition, Shashank got the opportunity to bat in only five innings in which he could only manage 69 runs at an average of 17.25. After taking a look at these figures, it would be difficult for the franchise to provide him a chance to be with the team for another season.

Earlier, at the auction, the franchise invested INR 20 lakhs in him to make him a part of the SRH team for their campaign in 2022.
