In the 31st game of the edition, Mumbai Indians (MI) hosted Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Wankhede Stadium. Winning the toss, MI skipper Rohit Sharma invited Punjab to bat first. For MI bowlers, things went well in the first ten overs as they hunted four PBKS batters.

However, the arrival of Sam Curran broke MI’s momentum as Punjab’s stand-in skipper took the matter into his hands. In the important match, the southpaw exploded with his bat and stitched a 92-run partnership with Harpreet Singh Bhatia. The 24-year-old stood till the 19th over and amassed 55 runs off just 29 deliveries. His swift knock was studded with nine boundaries (five fours and four maximums).

Riding on his superb knock, Punjab posted a colossal total of 214 on the board. The captain’s performance filled PBKS bowlers with confidence and they stopped Mumbai to 201. In the end, Curran also bagged the Player of the Match award for his incredible batting show.
