Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had a tough week on the field in the second week of the 2024 Indian Premier League. The 2016 runners-up clashed against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and faced unsuccess in both contests.
Bengaluru’s key players Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj looked out of rhythm in both games. The RCB team management also made some mistakes while selecting the team’s playing XI as some names who could’ve done wonders for them in both matches were seen warming benches.
Here are three players RCB underutilised in the second week
3. Vyshak Vijay Kumar
During the encounter against KKR at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB bowlers got mercilessly hammered while defending 182. On difficult bowling conditions, Bengaluru’s key bowlers Mohammed Siraj, Alzarri Joseph, and Yash Dayal not only struggled to get wickets but also failed to contain the flow of runs.

On the tough bowling pitch, Vyshak Vijay Kumar delivered a frugal spell to the side (1/23 in four overs) but the pacer didn’t get picked up for the contest against LSG at the same venue. Vyshak’s exclusion from the squad cost RCB as their bowling unit splurged 181 runs against the Super Giants which eventually proved enormous for the home side.
