2. Inconsistent bowling performances

CSK's bowling unit lacked consistency throughout the season. Even though they managed to bowl tight overs at times, the bowlers often leaked runs and lacked discipline during crucial moments. The Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad was the standout performer, claiming 24 wickets at a decent economy rate of 8.16. Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed was also impressive, especially in the powerplay. However, the rest of the attack struggled with maintaining control and frequently went for runs by failing to deliver consistent performances across matches. CSK's biggest miss was the lack of performance from veteran spinners R Ashwin (seven wickets in nine matches) and Ravindra Jadeja (10 wickets in 14 matches).
