Mohammed Shami has been an integral part of the Indian pace attack over the years. When paired with Jasprit Bumrah, this Indian pace duo becomes a force to reckon with. He was the highest wicket-taker in World Cup 2023, as he picked up 24 wickets in just seven games. He is also the first Indian pacer and overall fourth in the list of highest wickets in World Cups with 55 wickets in just 18 games.

The right-arm pacer missed the whole of 2024 due to his Achilles heel injury and entered the international setup only during the recent T20I series against England in January 2025. Since 2022, he has played only 24 ODIs and has picked 49 wickets at an impressive average of 18.95. During the course, he has won five Player of the Match accolades. His best figures of 7/57 came against New Zealand during the World Cup 2023 game in Mumbai. Quite remarkably, these was also the best figures for any Indian bowler in ODIs.
