India captain Rohit Sharma has justified his role superbly in this World Cup, scoring 503 runs with a ton and three fifties in nine matches. With these numbers, he is also the second-leading run-getter for the Men in Blue. Against the Afghan side, he guided Team India to an eight-wicket victory with his 131-run innings off 84 balls.

This ton helped him better his compatriot Sachin Tendulkar’s World Cup record of six hundreds. Following this match, the 36-year opener looked sensational with his bat against Pakistan in Ahmedabad. In the seven-wicket win against the arch-rivals, Rohit chipped in with his 86-run knock (63 deliveries).

In this tournament, he has consistently delivered fierce starts to his team in this competition. The hosts will expect their captain to continue their excellent form in the knockout round so that they clinch the coveted trophy after 12 years.
