Rohit Sharma retired from T20I cricket in 2024 after helping India emerge victorious in the T20 World Cup for the first time since 2007. The right-handed batter became only the second Indian captain to win the T20 World Cup.
Following the monumental triumph, Rohit announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game in international cricket. Since then, Rohit has played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Mumbai Indians, while the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Sanju Samson have been opening the batting for India in T20I cricket.
Rohit had a phenomenal T20I career for India. He also played some surreal knocks in the Asia Cup. Let's take a look at some of the records that could have been broken had he played the ongoing edition of the continental tournament in the United Arab Emirates.

Most Runs in T20 Asia Cups
Virat Kohli leads the charts for the highest run-scorers in the T20 Asia Cups. He has amassed 429 runs in nine innings at an average of 85.80 and a strike rate of 132. Rohit Sharma is fourth on that list, behind Kohli, Mohammad Rizwan, and Babar Hayat.
The Indian ODI skipper has scored 271 runs in nine innings at an average of 30.11 and a strike rate of 141.14. He needed just 159 runs to get past Kohli's tally. India are considered one of the favourites to win the Asia Cup. They are expected to at least make it to the Super-Four stage of the tournament. This would have given Rohit six matches to become the highest run-getter in T20 Asia Cups.
