The Indian team under Rohit Sharma's captaincy has seen a transformation, and India's approach to playing the game has changed. The skipper too, will be expected to be at his best during the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, which is set to begin in Australia from October 16. Team India has already started training for the global event and will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their campaign opener.

World Cup is one of the events where the players have an opportunity to create a record or surpass their fellow cricketers to top the charts or rankings. The Indian skipper, who will be leading the Men in Blue at the T20 World Cup for the first time, is on the verge of breaking a few records and creating new ones. It will surely happen if things fall into place as per the plans!

On that note, let us have a look at five records that Rohit Sharma can break during the tournament-

  1. Highest Individual score as a captain in T20 World Cup

Chris Gayle, while leading his side in the year 2010, notched up a 66-ball 98 runs while playing against India. 12 years down the line, his score stands as the highest ever by a skipper at the T20 World Cup. No other captain, ever since then, has managed to break the record.

But the marquee event brings in all the twists and turns, and one can expect the unexpected. Rohit Sharma has been in fine touch, and his match-winning knock against Australia in the rain-curtailed second T20I of the recently concluded T20I series is proof of the same.

Alongside being a captain, Sharma also opens the lineup for India which is an added advantage for the skipper to break Gayle’s record. If Sharma manages to hold his place strongly in the game and rack up the crucial runs for India, he may as well go on to set a new record.
