One of India’s most successful captains, Rohit Sharma, recently announced his retirement from Test cricket, following his retirement from T20Is after the 2024 T20 World Cup win. With two major ICC trophies (T20 World Cup 2024 & Champions Trophy 2025) under his captaincy in just over a year, Rohit will now serve India only in the ODI format. However, after his Test retirement announcement and conclusion of IPL 2025, many fans are wondering what Rohit is doing these days.
What is Rohit Sharma doing right now?
The 38-year-old is currently vacationing at the Jumeirah Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi (UAE) with his wife Ritika Sajdeh and their children Samaira and Ayaan. The cricketer has been actively posting on Instagram about his trip. In one of the pictures shared, Rohit and Ritika were enjoying a game of Jenga and spending time at the beach with their kids. The couple was earlier spotted at Mumbai airport with their children before flying out.

The couple also recently appeared as guests on the premiere episode of former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh and his wife Geeta Basra’s new YouTube talk show “Who’s The Boss”. The show is about cricketers and their partners' lives off the field. Both of them shared some unheard stories from their respective careers, and the opener also narrated his romantic marriage proposal to his wife.

Meanwhile, Rohit recently celebrated his 18th anniversary in international cricket and reflected on his debut on June 23, 2007, against Ireland. Remembering the day, he posted a picture of his Indian helmet and captioned it, “Forever grateful, 23.06.07.”
When will Rohit Sharma play next for India?
The Nagpur-born might have hung his boots from T20Is and Tests, but he will be seen in the 50-over format. In 273 ODIs, he has scored over 11,000 runs at an average of 48.76, including 32 centuries and three double tons. He will now lead the Men in Blue in the upcoming tour of Bangladesh starting August 17, 2025, which includes three ODIs and three T20Is (though Rohit will only feature in ODIs).
His IPL 2025 campaign with the Mumbai Indians was also impressive as he hammered 418 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of 149.28 and an average of nearly 30. However, MI’s campaign ended after a defeat in Qualifier 2 against Punjab Kings.
