Royal Challengers Bengaluru purchased Madhya Pradesh's Mangesh Yadav for INR 5.2 crore at the auction for IPL 2026 in Abu Dhabi on December 16. RCB were locked in with a bidding war with Sunrisers Hyderabad but they came out on top.
Mangesh was on the RCB radar as the defending champions did not retain Yash Dayal ahead of the auction. They opened the bidding after Mangesh entered at a base price of INR 30 lakh. SRH soon joined the race. There were a total of 41 bids which took place for Mangesh. Both franchises looked equally keen for the 23-year-old but RCB prevailed at INR 5.2 crore.
Speaking more about Mangesh, he emerged as the leading wicket-taker of the 2025 Madhya Pradesh Premier League with 14 scalps from just six matches. He registered three four-wicket hauls in six outings for Gwalior Cheetahs.
Mangesh recently made his debut for Madhya Pradesh after his exploits in the MP T20 League. He made his T20 debut in the ongoing installment of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Playing a couple of games in the Super League phase, he picked up three wickets and also scored a 12-ball 28-run cameo with the bat.

Mangesh is also a middle-over specialist. RCB have also purchased the likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Jacob Duffy and Satvik Deswal. It will be interesting how the Rajat Patidar-led unit will utilise Mangesh, who is a definite emerging player to look out for. Mangesh will be expected to have a lot of support from the seniors and the experienced coaching staff from others at RCB.
