Cricket Australia had planned to host two charity games in order to raise funds for the people that have badly been affected by the natural calamity of bushfires. But, there is an update over the same as the match that was scheduled to take place in Sydney will be shifted to Melbourne due to the chances of high rain on the match day, as per reports.
Bushfires burnt a million hectares of forests and also left a big question mark on the life of thousands of local residents that went homeless due to the same. Recently, Shane Warne, Rashid Khan and many other cricketers came forward to help the natives by raising funds in their own respective ways.
Cricket Australia has found an alternative
Cricket Australia had decided to host the fundraising charity match ahead of Big Bash League 2019-20 final. But the bad weather forecast has forced the cricket board to shift the venue. The chances of rain on the matchday are quite high and the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting 30 to 50mm of rain.
Hence, Cricket Australia has resorted to a perfect alternative of shifting the venue of the match, as reported by News Corp. Furthermore, they are expected to come out with refund procedures for the tickets that were sold for the doubleheader to take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on February 8.
It has also forced the TV broadcasters to shift the two charity games and BBL final to a new place. However, there were no provisions made for the BBL final before the commencement of the tournament. As per the rules, the rain-affected match can be reduced to a five-over game. But if the match is completely called off due to the heavy showers, Sydney Sixers will be crowned as the champions of the T20 tournament.
Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar and Courtney Walsh were appointed as the coach, who will train former cricketers like Ricky Ponting, Shane Warne, Justin Langer, Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee, Shane Watson, and many more.
