Joe Root has been one of the most prominent players for England, substantially in the longer formats of the game. With an atavistic batting technique, Root has formed the core of England’s batting line-up, especially in ODIs and Tests. Joe had a ball of time this year and ruled batting charts for England in the year.

Thus far, in 2018, England’s Test captain has featured in 40 games. Having played across all the three formats, Root has scored 1938 runs at an average of 46.14. Besides, he has also hit five centuries and 11 fifties in 2018.

With 1938 runs to his name, Root happens to be the second highest run-getter in the year 2018. Moreover, with 948 runs at an average of 41.21, he is the second highest run-scorer in Tests as well. Thus, with such impressive numbers, Root will be following Kohli in this playing XI.
