USA pacer Ali Khan hails MS Dhoni as ‘a dream captain to play under’ [Exclusive]

USA pacer Ali Khan has heaped huge praise on legendary Indian and Chennai Super Kings skipper, MS Dhoni, calling him a dream captain to play under. In an exclusive interaction with CricTracker, Ali Khan opened up about his admiration for Dhoni’s leadership and his IPL aspirations.

When asked which IPL captain he would love to play under and why, Ali Khan named MS Dhoni without blinking. The right-arm fast bowler stated Dhoni’s ability to get the best out of his bowlers. Ali stressed that Dhoni, who has given up captaincy, aspires to play one day alongside him in the same team. In the same conversation, he spoke about his potential IPL return and which franchise would best suit his bowling style.

Meanwhile, the pacer born in Attock, Pakistan, moved to the United States of America at the age of 18 and made it to international cricket, and became the first American bought at an IPL auction by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2020.

If you get an IPL opportunity again, which team do you think suits your bowling style the most and why?

I think I've already been part of the Knight Riders. So if I get another opportunity, I would like to be in the yellow colours. So I would say CSK.

Which IPL captain would you love to play under and why?

That's an easy answer. It has to be Dhoni. He's not captain anymore. But that would be a dream captain to play under. And I always wish that maybe one day. Even if not captain, but alongside him would be a great opportunity to play with MS Dhoni.

There are a few pictures of you with SRK on the internet. Do you have any unheard moments involving him that you would love to tell us for our fans?

I’ve met him a few times. I’ve been part of the Knight Riders set-up for a really long time, and he comes along and supports us. I met him a couple of times during the CPL. He’s a really nice guy, and I had some great moments with him. He took us out on a boat as a team, which was really good fun. He’s very affectionate as well. One time, he gave me a kiss on my cheek, and that was a really special moment for me. I also got my jersey signed by him, and I still have it at my house. It was very special.
