Match number 58 of IPL 2023 will see the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) go up against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. After winning a thriller against the Rajasthan Royals, SRH would be backing themselves to defeat LSG to stay alive in the competition.
With four games to go, the Hyderabad franchise has to win all to end up with 16 points. Lucknow, on the other hand, are on a rough patch with recent defeats and a no-result contest against the Chennai Super Kings bringing their momentum down. With 11 points to their name and three games remaining, LSG would be hungry to get that crucial two points against SRH. This would make them move to number three on the points table with Gujarat and Chennai ahead of them.
The arrival of Quinton De Kock has provided a balance to their opening combo with him and Kyle Mayers adding 88 runs for the first wicket. However, their middle order has not fired that much with Deepak Hooda and the current captain Krunal Pandya not contributing with bat.
SRHβs home advantage will come into play with them having a better bowling attack when compared to LSG. The addition of Glenn Phillips to their combination worked wonders against RR when he turned the game with his 7-ball 25 when SRH required 41 off the last two overs. It would be interesting to see what the captains choose since both teams love to chase with the added caveat of SRH getting kicked out of the tournament if they lose.
