After a horrible start to the season, Sydney Thunder finally showed some intent as they defeated the defending champions Perth Scorchers by 25 runs in their last match. Melbourne Stars on the other hand are still winless after their three matches in the WBBL. Coming back to Thunder, their batting woes finally came to an end as England international Tammy Beaumont finally returned back to form. Against the quality bowling line-up of Perth, the 31-year-old smashed 77 off 59 deliveries while captain Rachael Haynes supported her beautifully in the middle.

Bowlers have done reasonably well so far and if they manage to do that, Sydney Thunder will be under pressure right from the start. If they capitalize on that, the Stars can actually go on to record their first victory in the tournament.
