Aakash Chopra impressed with Shashank, Ashutosh's batting

A game that was far away from Punjab Kings’ reach was ultimately won by Sunrisers Hyderabad by the barest of margins. The visitors had the upper hand for the majority of the time in Mullanpur, but Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma’s 66-run partnership towards the fag end of the match slightly put Hyderabad on the back foot. With 29 runs required to win the game, Punjab batters smashed 26, losing by just two runs.

Even though the duo of Shashank and Ashutosh couldn’t get the job done, former cricketer Aakash Chopra was very impressed with their death-over batting. Analysing their brilliant knocks, the 46-year-old mentioned Sharma’s power-hitting is on a different level while if Shashank had played a couple of balls more in the match, he could have taken Punjab home.

“I am surprised that they reached so close because it didn't seem like the match could reach till there. Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma batted incredibly well once again and both impressed a lot. Ashutosh Sharma's power is of a different level. It seemed like Shashank Singh played one or two balls less as he hit a six off the last ball as well,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad picked up their first victory on the road this season. The Pat Cummins-led side looks to be a formidable force, as they managed to win three out of their five games so far in the league. With that, they are currently fifth on the points table while Punjab, with two wins in five matches, stand sixth.

Meanwhile, Punjab are currently missing the service of Liam Livingstone, who is out with a side strain. Sharing an update on his injury, skipper Dhawan mentioned that he is still recovering but will be back soon. Sikandar Raza has taken up his spot in the playing XI, but the Zimbabwe international has failed to impress in the last two matches. Against Hyderabad, he made 28 runs off 22 deliveries and didn’t bowl at all.
