After the results of the recent Mumbai Cricket Association Elections were declared, it was clear that Ajinkya Naik was re-elected as the President of the body following a majority of votes falling in his faction's favour. Notably, Naik had been elected unanimously during the council meeting, however, an opposition from Ashish Shelar-led panel forced the MCA to conduct, voting where Naik's panel secured 12 votes over Shelar getting only four.

Additionally, Jitendra Awhad, who had contested for the position of the Vice-President, beat Naveen Shetty to be elected as Naik's deputy for the new term. He was ahead of Shetty by 48 votes to be elected as the Vice-President. Meanwhile, Unmesh Khanvilkar was chosen as the new secretary for the association, beating rival Shah Alam Sheikh by a whopping 98-vote margin.

"It’s a victory for our Maidan clubs, secretaries, and every cricketer — men and women. This win belongs to the entire Mumbai Cricket family! With the powerful support of Hon’ble Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Ji and Sharad Pawar Ji, this success became possible. Heartfelt thanks to Ashish Ji Shelar for his continued guidance and encouragement," Naik expressed his delight via his official 'X' handle.
