Head Coach Andy Tennant has parted ways with Essex Women after less than a year in the role. Tennant departs the setup after registering five wins across all competitions. The club's first fully professional women's team after Essex were awarded Tier 1 status, following their impressive run in the previous domestic season, which got them a promotion.

The 59-year-old former Scottish cricketer could not replicate the same success as he did with Sunrisers in the final season of the regional women's structure. This comes even after many of the players in Sunrisers being at Essex too. Essex are coming off a torrid few days. They are out of contention in the One-Day Cup and finished second from bottom in the T20 Blast. They were also knocked out by Tier 2 Yorkshire in their sole fixture in the T20 County Cup.

Tennant was honest in admitting that he felt that it was the correct time to move to a new environment. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity as well as wished the club well for their future endeavours as a part of a farewell note. He has shown full confidence in the bunch of players around, who he believes will help them develop in the longer run.

"With the break in the fixtures for The Hundred, it has been an opportunity for both the club and myself to reflect and look ahead to next season. Following those conversations, it feels like now is the right time to step aside and seek my next opportunity. I am proud of what we have achieved together as a group and I would like to thank Essex for giving me the opportunity to continue the job we started with the Sunrisers three years ago. I wish the club well and I am confident this outstanding group of young female athletes will continue to develop and go from strength to strength," stated Tennant, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
