Former Australia speedster Brett Lee lavished praise on Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Arjun Tendulkar for his impressive display in the final over against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Courtesy of a brilliant all-round performance, MI clinched their third win of the IPL 2023 season against SRH, winning by 14 runs on April 18.

SRH had fought back during the chase of 192 runs despite losing wickets at regular intervals. Mayank Agarwal and Heinrich Klaasen put up a 55-run stand to help revive the contest but were eventually dismissed by Riley Meredith and Piyush Chawla, respectively.

With 20 required off the final over, SRH were still on the hunt to earn a potential win with Impact Player Abdul Samad and Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the crease. However, Arjun, son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, was handed the responsibility of defending for his team in a high-pressure situation.

Impressively, the left-arm pacer not only helped defend the total but also claimed his maiden wicket in the tournament, getting Bhuvneshwar’s scalp. Speaking about his performance, Lee lavished massive praise on the young seamer and reckoned that the exposure of dealing with high-pressure scenarios will help him massively going forward.

"He (Arjun) handled the pressure beautifully. To give away just 4-5 runs in that last over, getting his first wicket in IPL. Congratulations to him but I had said prior to that happening, no matter what happened at the end, that experience of him bowling in the death - I'm hoping it's a positive one - would just take his game from strength to strength," Brett Lee said on JioCinema.

The former Aussie was also impressed with Arjun attempting the wide yorkers and praised the latter for proving his mettle during the crunch moments of the game.

"He tried to nail that wide-line yorker and he did it very well. It's hard coming in, playing only his second match, he was under pressure with the whole team relying on him, and he honed himself impeccably, he spoke well and his game is only going to improve," Lee added.
