Pacer Arshdeep Singh could get a call-up to India's squad for the Test series against England. After gaining some experience bowling in the County Championship and showcasing good control with the ability to swing the ball both ways, the left-arm pacer could be considered for the Test set-up, a decision likely to be confirmed after the selectors' meeting.
In IPL 2025, Singh has been one of the best bowlers early in the innings due to his wicket-taking abilities. Most of his success has come through swing bowling and by varying his pace, line, and lengths. The Punjab Kings pacer has taken 16 wickets in 11 innings at a strike rate of 15.1 and an economy rate of 8.70 in the 18th edition of the league.
According to a report from The Telegraph, the selectors have identified the left-arm pacer as one of the potential assets for the Indian team on the Test tour of England. With concerns over the fitness and form of Mohammed Shami, there is space in India’s bowling attack, especially given the length of the tour, which demands more depth in the squad.

'He is a thinking bowler, and I need a left-armer' - Ravi Shastri on Arshdeep
Speaking about the same in a recent interview, Ravi Shastri claimed it was not right to label Arshdeep a white-ball specialist. The former India coach said he would keep an eye on the number of overs Arshdeep can bowl. Shastri was open to Arshdeep being picked, provided he could deliver 15–20 overs a day. He concluded by describing Arshdeep as a thinking bowler and stressed the need for a left-arm pacer.
"I do not like this thing when they say someone like Arshdeep Singh is a ‘white-ball specialist’. I will keep a close eye on his red-ball record as well and the number of overs he bowls. If he can bowl 15–20 overs for me, he might very well be in the mix because he’s got the mindset. He is a thinking bowler, and I need a left-armer," Shastri said on The ICC Review.
