The ongoing first Ashes Test at Edgbaston is turning out to be quite an intriguing affair. Not a surprise though as two fantastic teams are pitted against each other. Australia began Day 3 at 311/5, still 82 runs behind England's first innings score.

Overnight batters, Usman Khawaja and Alex Carey started the morning session positively, adding 27 runs in as many balls before the latter was dismissed by James Anderson. This was the veteran England pacer's 1100th first-class wicket.

Khawaja continued to frustrate the home side before a unique field setting from captain Ben Stokes brought about the Aussie opener's dismissal. With six fielders catching in front of him, Khawaja stepped out to Ollie Robinson but yorked himself in the process and got castled. The delivery finished his marathon innings with 141 runs off 321 balls. Pat Cummins played a vital 38-run knock as Australia fell short of England's first innings score of 393 by 7 runs.

First and second sessions to be extended by 15 minutes on Day 4

England came into bat and were 26/0 in 6.5 overs when rain stopped play on Day 3. After a long delay, action resumed but it wasn't a memorable affair for the English openers. Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley fell in quick succession before another spell of rain forced the umpires to call off play.

England were 28/2 at the end of Day 3 with Joe Root and Ollie Pope at the crease.

To make up for the loss of play on Day 3, the match officials have decided to extend the first and second sessions by 15 minutes on Day 4. The revised session timings (IST) are:

First session: 3:30 to 5:45 PM

Lunch: 5:45 to 6:25 PM

Second session: 6:25 to 8:40 PM

Tea: 8:40 to 9 PM

Third session: 9 to 11 PM

England are currently at 82/3 in 18 overs, having lost Ollie Pope to a brilliant yorker from Pat Cummins on Day 4.
