The sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to begin on March 31, and fans lie in wait to see their favorite players in action once more. The finalists of the 2022 IPL, Rajasthan Royals, will gear up once again and look for a repeat of their performances from the previous edition as the franchise will be keen to grabg their second IPL title.
Led by Sanju Samson, RR had a stellar campaign in the 15th edition of the tournament, as they finished second in the IPL points table, only behind Gujarat Titans. As the tournament is right around the corner, former India pacer Sreesanth came forward to give his take on Sanju Samson’s stint as the skipper of Rajasthan Royals. The 40-year-old admitted to having a chat with Samson ahead of the 2023 season.
He's still learning: Sreesanth on Samson
Sreesanth touched upon a variety of topics regarding Samson, opining that the RR skipper needs to learn to step back a bit as well.
"Sanju (is) a very attacking captain and sometimes, when the occasion comes, he has to step back a bit. That's something I've been telling him, that's one, maybe he might have to balance between attacking and defending. Even when it comes to captaincy, he's still learning. But that will be one very important point when it comes to strengths and weaknesses. Sanju has to balance his thoughts and decision making," Sreesanth told Star Sports.
"Sanju Samson, I genuinely hope that he does extremely well and gets back into the Indian lineup. Scoring lot of runs and lots of performances," he added.
Samson has been one of the biggest stars for Rajasthan Royals over the years, and he almost led them to a title victory in the 2022 season as well. Being one of the highest run-getters for the franchise, RR will hope that Samson can come through for them once again.
