The chairman of cricket operations at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Jalal Yunus has resigned from his position with immediate effect. This development comes after the political turmoil in the country.

Bangladesh has recently experienced severe social unrest, with intense student protests that led to a change in government. The political tension escalated to such an extent that sitting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to leave her own homeland.

The turmoil also resulted in attacks on public property and celebrities' homes. In response to the volatile situation, countries like England, India, and Australia issued stern travel advisories as a new administration took shape in Bangladesh. Yunus, who also served as a director on the BCB, confirmed his resignation on Monday.

"I have resigned from the board for the interest of cricket," Yunus told to Cricbuzz.

Nazmul Hasan has also expressed his desire to resign

The resignation is likely to be the first of several changes within the BCB. Notably, BCB president Nazmul Hasan has also expressed his willingness to resign from his post in the interest of cricket and a desire to cooperate with the new government.

The political upheaval that led to these changes began with student protests that forced the Awami League government to resign. The intensity of the protests was such that they not only toppled the sitting government but also led to widespread unrest and property damage across the country.
