Kolkata Knight Riders registered a 106-run win over the Delhi Capitals to remain undefeated in the IPL 2024 on April 3. KKR put up 272/7 and DC were bowled out for 166 in 17.2 overs. JioCinema IPL experts Parthiv Patel and Eoin Morgan discussed the performances of Sunil Narine (85 runs; 1/29) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (54 runs), exclusively on ‘Match Centre Live’.

Excerpts:

Eoin Morgan on Sunil Narine’s batting: It shows how much he enjoys his batting. As a youngster, he was a batter and used to bowl a little seam. Over time, he developed these magical deliveries and worked hard on them. But he gets so much joy out of his batting. Growing up, his hero was Brian Lara. Lara would be happy with some of the shots played by Narine this evening.

Parthiv Patel on Narine: When Gautam Gambhir was captain of KKR, he was completely convinced that Sunil Narine is the kind of player who could win them matches if he opened the batting. He came back to KKR and has done just that. A lot of things make a difference. Knowing you have someone who backs you, allows you to bat with confidence. Without a doubt, his batting is exciting. If you score 85 off 39 balls and it feels like every other ball can go for a four or a six, it is exciting.

Patel on Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s batting display: He batted really well. The shots we saw from a young player like him were excellent. When you’re playing on a stage like the IPL for the first time and are facing a bowler like Anrich Nortje, whose average speed is 140-145 km/h, and your first ball is a four off a hook shot, it’s really exciting. The second ball was also hit for a four. One thing I saw in his batting was confidence. He’s 18-years-old and must be thinking that this is some sort of a dream.
