Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and India cricketer Ambati Rayudu has taken a surprise U-turn by forwarding his support to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for winning the IPL trophy. RCB, who will crossing swords with Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 Finals at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on June 3, have received the backing of Rayudu to get their hands on the prized silverware.

The Guntoor-born took to his 'X' (formerly known as Twitter) handle to congratulate RCB on reaching the finals and then finally winning the trophy. Rayudu further said that RCB truly deserve to win the silverware this season and win their maiden title under the leadership of Rajat Patidar. This statement has come as a shock for RCB fans, as Rayudu, who won three seasons each with CSK and MI, has been vocal about his disliking for the franchise.

"There has always been an amazing cricketing rivalry between the 3 great southern cities.. I think it’s time for the great city of Bangalore to win their first ever Ipl trophy tonight, which they truly deserve to this season.. Go RCB.. bring it home.." he wrote.

Speaking about RCB's road to the grand finale, the Rajat Patidar-led side started their campaign by beating the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in the tournament opener on March 22 at the Eden Gardens. They remained unbeaten in all of their away games, and despite having a poor start at home games, the side bounced back brilliantly, becoming the first team to confirm themselves a berth in the Playoffs.

Virat Kohli has been the best batter for the side with 614 runs from 14 innings at an average of 55.81 and a strike-rate of 146.53. The ace opener also has eight half-centuries this season, which is the most by any batter in the tournament's history. He will once again be the key to RCB's chances if they are to see themselves winning the cup.

Their best bowler, on the other hand, has been the Australian star Josh Hazlewood. The experienced right-arm quick has played only 11 matches so far, but has reigned supreme to pick the 21 wickets. His bowling has single-handedly won the franchise on many occasions this seasons, and he will once again enter the field to prove his worth against Punjab Kings in the ultimate clash.
