Former India opener Aakash Chopra was full of praises for England skipper Ben Stokes for his magnificent innings in the second Ashes Test at the Lord's Cricket Ground. The 32-year-old smashed 155 runs off 214 balls, including nine boundaries and as many sixes, before his side outplayed by the visitors on a 43-run margin on Day 5 of the second Test.

While reviewing the game, Chopra stated that Stokes deserves praise for his courageous effort to create prospects to even up the five-game series. He added that 'cometh the hour, cometh the man,' speaking of the English skipper.

"You will have to praise Ben Stokes, the sort of knocks he has played under pressure in the Ashes or the World Cup final. Cometh the hour, cometh the man, that's Ben Stokes," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

What Ben Stokes does, only Ben Stokes does that: Chopra

Aakash Chopra went on to say that what Stokes accomplished on the final day of the second Test could only be done by him, especially when nine Australian fielders were in the deep. The ongoing series had gone cold so far, according to the 45-year-old. Besides, he also remarked that Stokes is a good captain, but the 32-year-old's performances as a batter and bowler have been poor until now.

"Nine fielders were in the deep and despite that, what Ben Stokes does, only Ben Stokes does that. The Ashes were going absolutely cold thus far. He was okay as a captain but as a batter and bowler, big name but his performances were not that big until now," Chopra concluded.

Stokes' explosive batting gave the home side a huge boost as he and veteran pacer Stuart Broad (11) combined 108 runs for the seventh wicket, putting England within 70 runs of the win. Josh Hazlewood's dismissal of him, though, set off a collapse in which Ollie Robinson and Stuart Broad also fell in quick succession before Mitchell Starc handed Australia a 43-run win by dismissing Josh Tongue.
