The 2025-26 season of the Australian summer has already witnessed a record pre-sale of tickets, breaking the existing record of the 2017/18 season by a fair margin. While the 2017-18 season witnessed a pre-sale of 111,741 tickets before the start of the season, the 2025-26 season has already witnessed a pre-sale of over 220,000 tickets, and counting.

A lot of pre-sale has happened for the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the first two days of the D/N Test between Australia and England at the Gabba later this year. Over 55,000 tickets have already been sold for the Boxing Day Test, while only single seat tickets are available for the first two days of the D/N Test at the Gabba.

The boost has also happened because India and South Africa will be touring Australia for limited-overs series before the Ashes. Additionally, the Australian home summer will end with the multi-format series between the Indian and the Australian women's teams.

Reaffirms our position as Australia’s national sport: Cricket Australia CEO

"The record demand for tickets shows the excitement fans are feeling about the fantastic international season to come. To surpass our previous ticket sales record, even before NSW and WA tickets had gone on sale, is a remarkable achievement and reaffirms our position as Australia’s national sport," said Todd Greenberg, CEO, Cricket Australia.

There was reportedly a slight problem in the sale of tickets due to a technical issue. However, Greenberg urged the viewers to buy tickets and warned them that tickets were getting sold out early. Greenberg wished to see an unforgettable summer of cricket later this year and claimed the response of the fans was good for the sport.

"I would urge those who haven’t already bought their tickets to do so now, as we expect allocations to be exhausted for some days. We can’t wait for an unforgettable summer of international cricket," Todd Greenberg added.

The pre-sale of tickets will happen till the 12th of June, while the general sale will take place from the following day.
