Chennai Super Kings (CSK) strengthened their squad at the IPL 2026 auction by signing Akeal Hosein for ₹2 crore. They made headline-grabbing moves by acquiring uncapped cricketers Prashanth Veer and Kartik Sharma for ₹14.20 crore each.

CSK also picked up Matthew Short for ₹1.5 crore, Aman Khan for ₹40 lakh, Sarfaraz Khan and Zak Foulkes for ₹75 lakh each, and Matt Henry for ₹2 crore. In addition, leg-spinner Rahul Chahar was secured for ₹5.20 crore, further bolstering their bowling attack.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) entered the IPL 2026 mini-auction with a purse of INR 43.4 crore and nine slots left to fill in their squad. The five-time champions endured a disappointing campaign in IPL 2025, finishing at the bottom of the points table for the first time in their history.

Injuries played a major role in CSK’s struggles last season, with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad sidelined due to a hand injury. Additionally, experienced players such as Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tripathi, and Deepak Hooda failed to deliver consistent performances, further contributing to the team’s lack of rhythm.

After releasing several players ahead of the mini-auction, CSK will be eager to bounce back stronger in IPL 2026. With a formidable core that includes Dewald Brevis, trade-in Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals, Ayush Mhatre, Urvil Patel, Mukesh Choudhary, and the legendary MS Dhoni, the Chennai-based franchise will be aiming to reclaim their dominance and push for a historic sixth IPL title.
